Kit Carson, a custom knifemaker and Knifemaker's Guild member, has been very famous for his M16® design. But during the 90's, his classic M4™ has been most consistent when it comes to selling in his usual unassuming manner. Mr. Carson said that It’s he’s flagship custom.
Simple but no tricks that look slick aren’t worth a flip in your hands. He made many variations on it, from exotic collectibles to some working tactical in at least 20 versions. But still get more and more calls to make the M4™.
So Mr. Carson made CRKT M4 that can afford to carry everyday, anywhere and anytime.
While they are working on it, they’ve decided to add some more value by offering our patented(1) Outburst™ assisted opening as an option, and our patented(2) and exclusive AutoLAWKS™ safety which automatically actuates when the folder is opened and locked, creating a virtual fixed blade instantly for the ultimate in safety.
Traditionalists can buy the M4 as a conventional non-assisted opener, while the more progressive can choose the product patented Outburst™ assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees.
Both styles have dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one-hand opening and bronze and Teflon® bearings at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action. The blade is a high-hollow-grind drop point of premium AUS 8 stainless steel in a bead-blast finish. Both Razor-Sharp and our exclusive Combined Razor-Sharp and Veff™ Serrated edges are available.
Developed from Oregon City, Mr. Veff, designed it 60 degrees to the edge.
It slices smoothly and effortlessly. It has dual stainless steel liners, one locking, and a 6061 T6 anodized aluminum back spacer. Brushed stainless steel bolsters are inset with textured black Zytel® scales.
Finally, a high-mounted pocket/gear clip allows low in-pocket carry.
With this product, you have a friendly work knife that fits the hand naturally for all kinds of cutting and carving tasks.
