Knifemaker and inventor Charles Kain had shown another possible way to open a folding knife. He demonstrated his new Fulcrum™ Action (patent pending). We integrated the design of another knifemaker, Russ Kommer, into this folder, which we call the Fulcrum™.
And this one has become one of the slickest-operating lightweight personal folders.
It can easily be opened by just pressing the side of the frame and can also be closed with just one hand. The build uses high-carbon steel InterFrame with steel pivot and has also a stainless steel bolster with diamond pattern.
For traditionalist, the base model 7403 that features a satin blade finish is available. And for the adventurous one, the deluxe model 7404 that is made up of black titanium nitride blade finish is recommended. Both come with a removable stainless steel pocket clip.
Fulcrum was awarded a prestigious IWA International Knife Award at 2008.
And a special award, the Special Innovation Award to the Kommer Fulcrum™ model 7404, which gives a special recognition for its totally new mechanism. The mechanism involves the sliding of the handle grips, and this action opens a concealed opening.
This mechanism earned the enthusiastic praise of the jury. This knife was also voted as the Important Knife of the Year in 2008.
