Decorative Fan w/ Display Stand by Musashi
The fan looks like a very docile object. However, this was one of the tools a Japanese commander would use during battle. Since the fan was a large object it was easily seen from a distance. Very similar to flags, the fan would be used to signal troops movements during the heat of a battle. Only a commander could carry a fan and so this also became a symbol of stature
