Gimli’s Battle Axe

December 30, 2008

Battle Axe of Gimli“ width=Gimli, of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, a noble dwarf of the Longbeards and son of Gloin, was of the most important kind of dwarves. A true hero and friend to the elves, Gimli is known to be both dauntless and loyal. Gimli was a skilled fighter who befriended Frodo Baggins. They joined together, amongst others, on the quests to the Lonely Mountain and also to destroy the One Ring.

Battle Axe is the primary weapon of Dwarves. Its shape and appearance identified that Gimli is a member of a particular tribe. Gimli’s Battle Axe was retrieved by him at the Mines of Moria. It was once owned by the Dwarf-lord. This two-handed axe was his pride and joy, (as well his beard).

Gimli’s matchless axe was created for two-handed combat, making it easy to rapidly swing in either direction. This has enabled him to ferociously slice through the flesh of many orcs, trolls, goblins, and wargs. He also carries his Walking Axe, Bearded axe, and two Throwing Axes.

Lord of the Rings Sting Sword with Scabbard

December 18, 2008

Sting Sword with ScabbardFrom Peter Jackson’s ever popular Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Sting Sword came about. It was made in Gondolin after the first age. This sword was first given to Frodo by Bilbo before the Fellowship set from Rivendell. Frodo later handed it down to Sam.

The Sting Sword with Scabbard has runes etched into the blade that are said to be in Sindarin, the Elven language. The words displayed are: “Maegnas aen estar nin dagnir in yngyl im,” meaning, “Sting is my name – I am the spider’s bane.” Its name didn’t come about until after Bilbo had used this elvish short sword to fight off giant spiders in Mirkwood by “stinging” them. This weapon is made unique when orcs are near as it glows blue!

It is double edged with a leaf shaped blade and is extremely well balanced. It is great for Lord of the Rings fans, fantasy sword collectors, or even for a stage prop!

Specifications:

  • Overall Length: 25 3/4″
  • Blade Length: 21 7/8″
  • Includes Hard Scabbard!

Robin Hood Sword

December 8, 2008

Robin Hood SwordWe are excited to offer a sword of the man who stole from the rich to give to the poor, who was a commoner, who fought against injustice and tyranny, and the man who we all know of from our childhood days: Robin Hood. This sword was made to replicate the sword carried by this medieval character of many tales and adventures.

This version of the Robin Hood Sword is not meant for children, nor is it meant for use while skipping through the forest in search of the Sheriff of Nottinghamshire. Its blade is made of stainless steel and features images of Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, and Little John and should be hung safely and securely on the wall – with its included display plaque!

This is a truly magnificent sword with beautiful detail around the guard and grip. The photos do not do this detail any justice – you will just have to order one to see for yourself!

Sword Specifications:

  • Blade Length: 34”
  • Handle Length: 8”
  • Overall Length: 42”
  • Blade Material: Stainless Steel

Paper Cranes Daisho

December 6, 2008

Paul Chen is now making its own Tamahagane steel, resulting in one of the most valued achievements of Paul Chen/Hanwei history – the Paper Crane daisho.  The Paul Chen Paper Crane daisho are a remarkable mastery of Paul Chen’s sword making arts.  The Daisho’s name reflects on origami cranes which decorate the Tsuba plus Fuchi/Kashira.  These swords represent the Japanese theater with thespian masks on the Menuki.

A Tatara is built and fired with charcoal, which creates an extremely pure steel from iron sand, also known as “Kera.”  It is broken into high (“skin”) and low (“core”) carbon steel pieces.  The skin is forged/folded and then wrapped around the core.  The result is forged into a blade.  The Hada and white particles of the Hamon are formed by careful heat treating and polishing.  The result is an astonishing, fully functional blade.

The Paper Crane Katana and Paper Crane Wakizashi are two exciting elements of this fantastic set.  Each featuring a hand woven silk Sageo, these swords are truly elegant pieces.  The Saya of the Katana features a Kozuka, which is a small knife, whereas the Saya of the Wakizashi houses a Kogai – a hair pick!
