Batman Halloween Costume

As we all are well aware, Halloween is creeping up on us. It’s time to start thinking about costumes and we will be coming up with a few ideas over the next several days to give you a bit of a push in the right direction!

Nodachi by Cold Steel

Of the Warrior Series by Cold Steel, the Nodachi is made of exceptional quality at an economical price! Many collectors requested something like their Imperial Series at a lesser cost. This is a step down in price but not necessarily in quality! The major difference between weapons of the Warrior and Imperial Series is the fact that the mirror polishing has been omitted. The same steel, heat treatment, and sharpness are used for both.

Nodachi Facts:
The Nodachi is a two-handed Asian weapon which was carried for foot soldiers for use during close combat. During combat the sword was generally carried when approaching the enemy with two hands while the blade was facing outward toward them. They were relatively uncommon due to their difficulty to forge and great strength requirements.
This sword was carried by Sasaki Kojiro who was deadly with this weapon. You may remember his name for his famous duel with Musashi Miyamoto.
The school of Kage-ryū is one of the few who trains in the use of this weapon.

Kit Rae’s Black Legion War Axe

The Swords of the Ancients have been used throughout time to fight the never-ending battle between good and evil. Forged by the Ancient Ones who were masters of flesh, fire, and steel during the beginning of time, these swords each hold a special power by the Ancients, in order for them to have dominion over the mortal men and beasts who came into the world.
These collectibles have been around since 1997 and have become increasingly popular among fantasy enthusiasts. Many manufacturers attempt to make fantasy weapons like these but the ones made by Kit Rae are the real deal. The SOTA collection quite possibly opened the gates to the “fantasy sword” world after all.
Kit Rae’s Black Legion War Axe is the newest axe of his SOTA collection. Carried by the Black Legion, monstrous foot soldiers of the Dark One, these are meant for fighting dirty. Hand Forged Highlander Sword of the Dragon Katana

“He is Duncan MacLeod, the Highlander. Born in 1592 in the Highlands of Scotland and he is still alive. He is immortal. For four hundred years he’s been a warrior… a lover… a wanderer.”
MacLeod is an immortal who can heal almost any wound inflicted upon him, with the exception to a wound to the throat. Because of this, he and other immortals tend to have substantial sword fights with one another while wielding huge and powerful swords!
About the Hand Forged Highlander Sword of the Dragon Katana:
This is an impressive replica of the katana wielded by Duncan MacLeod in the Highlander series, seasons 2 through 6. Duncan MacLeod is the main character in the series and is played by actor Adrian Paul.
Here you see what may possibly be one of the most accurate and economical Highlander Sword replicas of the original sword used in the series. This version of the sword was created by Masahiro Swords. It features a sharp, hand forged carbon steel blade with bo-hi groove. Its cast metal tsuba has a dragon design with gold finish while its composite grip is made to hold the appearance of carved ivory. It comes with a black lacquered wood scabbard and metal accents.

The Mithrodin by Kit Rae

The Mithrodin… Ahh, what a sword. This member of Kit Rae’s Sword of the Ancients collection is an absolutely breathtaking piece of artwork. It was forged by Toukol and features his maker mark which says “Honor ruled by steel” in Annundtal. For the whole story of this and other Swords of the Ancients, visit Kit Rae’s website.
The detail of this sword is out of this world. I can do my best to share the details about this sword, but words really cannot do this one justice.
The Mithrodin is no little display piece. Its 22 ¾” blade and 42 ¾” overall length make this one monster of a decoration piece. We will start with the pommel, which is actually a claw or sharp beak of some sort with a nice curve to it. The handle holds a surprising resemblance to that of a katana. The hilt really stands out with this sword along with the guard which features a lot of the Kit Rae sword decorations and a cool fin-like design. The blade features a wicked curve with sharp, pointed peaks on the spine. Angelical runes are etched in the blade near the hilt (where the classic Kit Rae logo can be found as well) and the decoration continues down to the midpoint of the blade.
Although this sword is not functional, it has a pretty good feel to it. It is pieced together nicely and is very sturdy. This does not mean that it would necessarily be a good idea to start swinging it at even light targets – just know that it is able to withstand more than most other display swords!

Paper Cranes Daisho

Paul Chen is now making its own Tamahagane steel, resulting in one of the most valued achievements of Paul Chen/Hanwei history – the Paper Crane daisho. The Paul Chen Paper Crane daisho are a remarkable mastery of Paul Chen’s sword making arts. The Daisho’s name reflects on origami cranes which decorate the Tsuba plus Fuchi/Kashira. These swords represent the Japanese theater with thespian masks on the Menuki.
A Tatara is built and fired with charcoal, which creates an extremely pure steel from iron sand, also known as “Kera.” It is broken into high (“skin”) and low (“core”) carbon steel pieces. The skin is forged/folded and then wrapped around the core. The result is forged into a blade. The Hada and white particles of the Hamon are formed by careful heat treating and polishing. The result is an astonishing, fully functional blade.
The Paper Crane Katana and Paper Crane Wakizashi are two exciting elements of this fantastic set. Each featuring a hand woven silk Sageo, these swords are truly elegant pieces. The Saya of the Katana features a Kozuka, which is a small knife, whereas the Saya of the Wakizashi houses a Kogai – a hair pick!
