Wanna Be a Samurai?

Anyone who’s ever seen a samurai film spends the rest of the night lying in bed, wishing for their very own samurai sword. We’ve all had dreams where we’re limber ninjas, jumping from roof to roof, sliding undetected behind an unsuspecting target. I mean, that’s the dream, isn’t it? A life of danger and excitement? Then we wake up and simply wobble to the bathroom to start our day.

We sit in our cubicle or desk, daydreaming about slicing through Oren Ishii’s gang, The Crazy 88, like Uma Thurman in Quentin Tarantino’s incredible film Kill Bill. We think back to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and wonder if maybe we trained really hard, perhaps we could hop on bamboo stalks like they did. We imagine decapitating hordes of zombies with our katanas, like that lady on The Walking Dead. No? Just me? Oh…

Let’s face it, every good action film has a samurai sword in there somewhere. They are used as sophisticated and stylish weapons against everything from vampires, to zombies, to enemies against whom we seek revenge. Pretty much any evil, undead, corrupt, oppressive, bad thing out there. And with good reason! They’re awesome.

What if I said there’s a place where you can get the katana of your dreams? A place where they not only sell beautiful display pieces, but battle-ready, handmade amazingness that will surely come in handy when the zombies finally attack. This place exists, and you’re reading its blog right now.

Heavenly Swords has dozens of gorgeous swords for anyone looking to start, or expand their collection. With new products coming in every day, you are guaranteed to find what you’re looking for. Here are a few of my favorites:

Dragon Guardian Samurai Sword w/ White Ito

The intricate dragon detail on the handle is what got my attention. This beauty is 41” long, with a battle ready blade made form 1045 carbon steel. Those zombies are going down!

Gold Jintachi Japanese Samurai Swords

This one is perfect for someone just starting a collection. It’s not only a stunning showpiece, but it comes equipped with a 26” stainless steel blade. The scabbard, or saya, has a gold plated finish, and the handle features a gorgeous antiqued detail.

Gold Spiral Dragon Katana

What put this sword over the top for me are the 7” stiletto and the 7 ½” knife that fit neatly into the scabbard. So you have extra protection if you need to fight off multiple undead at once. The red snakeskin-style handle matches the red scabbard… just so pretty.

Musha Hand Hond Razor Sharp Samurai Sword Set with Stand

For those of us who do not play games. This is a hand forged, razor sharp sword set. Each blade is made of 1045 carbon steel glimmering in the sunlight, my friend. The hard, deep blue scabbard has a lacquered high gloss finish, and the stand compliments it beautifully. Display these in a prominent place, and know you’ll always have some deadly weapons ready if you ever need to defend yourself against The Crazy 88.

Anime Obsession: Bleach

I know I’m a few years late to the party, but just one look at an episode of Bleach and I was hooked. This anime series airs on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, and oh man. I was hesitant at first, anime storylines can be very complex, and can be quite confusing for someone tuning in mid-episode. The animation had me hooked instantly. Its use of light and dark, the inventiveness, yet realism of its characters, not to mention the larger-than-life weapons, all work perfectly together to honor the Anime tradition, while creating a world if its own. No other cartoon looks like this.

After closing my agape mouth when the episode ended, I went online to find out more about the series. My first question was, “Why is it called Bleach?”
The only possible answers I found on IMDB. It states,

“It’s generally accepted that the title Bleach comes from the fact the Shinigami use their Zanpakto to cleanse (bleach) the souls of Hollows.

Another accepted meaning for the title is because of Ichigo’s hair color. He was often picked on as a kid for having orange hair and many people accuse him of bleaching it. Both are acceptable reasons, but neither have been completely confirmed or turned down as the right answer.”

Not too certain, but I’ll take it. The title of the series was the least of my concerns. I needed to know who these people were, where they came from, why are they here? So I did some research to find the backstory.

The series began a manga comic in 2002. It came to Adult Swim as an Anime series in 2006, and has since then taken North America by storm. In the series we follow a teenager named Ichigo Kurosaki. He can see ghosts. He runs into Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who was chasing after a Hollow, or lost soul, that attacked Ichigo and his family. She becomes injured and ends up transferring her energy to Ichigo, who ends up fighting and defeating the Hollow. Ichigo and Rukia join forces to battle souls… and all kinds of craziness ensues.

The swords on Bleach are awesome. Now you can have your own Bleach replica, in case a Hollow should come your way. We have over 60 different Bleach sword replicas and accessories in stock!! Check out a few of these beauties:

What Time Is It? Adventure Time!

fishadventuretime

My favorite show of all time is an animated, 11 minute series called Adventure Time. It’s about two brothers, a human boy named Finn and a magic dog named Jake. Jake’s parents adopted Finn after finding him crying in the woods as a baby. Anyway, they go on adventures together. Adventures full of danger and dragons and wizards and Finn’s favorite, dungeons!

As I was watching this week’s episode, I thought to myself, “What kind of weapons would Finn and Jake use if they were in a real dungeon?” Assuming there would be dragons and monsters in it, of course. After looking through Heavenly Sword’s selection, I came up with a few items that would make Finn shout, “Mathematical!”

Classic Japanese Black Samurai Katana Three piece Sword Set and Stand

Anyone who watches the series knows that Finn and Jake are obsessed with ninja stuff. They would go banay-nays for this three piece sword set. The end cap of the scabbard is a demon with its wings spread and a flower above it. I could totally see Jake giving this to Finn for his birthday.

Fantasy Dagger Set

Is it just me, or does this dagger set look a lot like Finn’s golden sword? This would be perfect to fight off some skeleton warriors! The handle features an antique bronze and silver finish, and it comes with a black belt sheath for easy access.

Wooden Viking Shield Buckler 29″

This functional shield would be great to deflect The Ice King’s ice lightning. It’s a good size and super sturdy. It is made of hardwood with steel decorative strips and rim. Its back is covered in felt, for comfort. It also has arm straps for easy handling.

Pair of Medieval Gauntlet with Brass Accents

Finn loves finding the occasional gauntlet in a dungeon, but if he had this pair of medieval gauntlet he would never have to go without. The brass accents make them unique, and the leather lining makes them easy to wear. No problem handling your sword in these guys!

Medieval Suit Of Armor Breast Plate and Shoulders

No hero goes into battle without a little armor. This 18 gauge carbon steel breast plate also protects your back and your shoulders. It has adjustable straps, so it will fit a variety of sizes. Finn would be well protected in this powerful piece.

Scottish Dirk by Cold Steel

Every warrior needs a cool sword. Finn has many swords in his arsenal, but this Highland Short Sword is not only beautiful, but functional too! It has a 13” blade and comes fully sharpened, so it’s totally ready for battle. The attractive leather scabbard and Rosewood handle complete this gorgeous piece of equipment.

Whether saving princesses from evil kings, or making their way through a creepy labyrinth, Finn and Jake would be ready for anything with these weapons in tow. The Lich wouldn’t stand a chance! Now you can be ready too, in case you ever need to make your way out of a dungeon.
