Lord of the Rings Sting Sword with Scabbard

December 18, 2008

Sting Sword with ScabbardFrom Peter Jackson’s ever popular Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Sting Sword came about. It was made in Gondolin after the first age. This sword was first given to Frodo by Bilbo before the Fellowship set from Rivendell. Frodo later handed it down to Sam.

The Sting Sword with Scabbard has runes etched into the blade that are said to be in Sindarin, the Elven language. The words displayed are: “Maegnas aen estar nin dagnir in yngyl im,” meaning, “Sting is my name – I am the spider’s bane.” Its name didn’t come about until after Bilbo had used this elvish short sword to fight off giant spiders in Mirkwood by “stinging” them. This weapon is made unique when orcs are near as it glows blue!

It is double edged with a leaf shaped blade and is extremely well balanced. It is great for Lord of the Rings fans, fantasy sword collectors, or even for a stage prop!
