New York Comic Con - “The East Cost’s Biggest and Most Exciting Popular Culture Convention”

New York Comic Con is a HUGE for-profit event focused on gaming, comics, anime, manga, toys, movies, and the like, manged by Reed Exhibitions. The weekend of February 6-8 is when 2009’s annual event will take place! This is the second largest pop culture convention in America.

Friday morning will be open only to professionals but Friday evening and all day both Saturday and Sunday are open to the public! This event tends to draw attention from the media so you may end up on tv or youtube!

A whole slew of activities are available this year. You can learn to survive the economic rigor of these times by learning to Build a Stronger Customer Base from ComicsPRO or take in some knowledge from other presentations offered if you are a professional. You can interact with favorite creators with panels and autograph sessions or enter into New York Comic Con’s Official Costume Contest (professional or non)! Or test your Star Wars knowledge with a Star Wars Trivia game!

This year will feature video games like Guitar Hero, the Penny Arcade, Altiel, Velvet Assassin by SouthPeak Games, THQ, and the list goes on.

For the Anime enthusiast, screenings such as Shin Chan, Lucky Star, Witchblade, Emma, and Aria will take place throughout the weekend. Attend panels like Claymore (a story about badass women with kick ass swords).

A day for kids will be offered too! Kids Day will be on Sunday, February 8, when children 12 and under can be attend for free! Children 18 and under are welcome and must attend with an adult.

Guests will include Gabe & Tycho, Joshua Ortega, Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Takashi Mike, Gabrielle Dell’Otto and more.
